Born of a mother with a ninja heritage and a father with a samurai heritage, Ryuji Takeda had trained himself in the art of both Kenjitsu and Ninjitsu ever since the tender age of 4. His thorough training had kept both his body and mind in top form all the way through his high school graduation. Unfortunately, the day of his graduation was also the day his home was stripped of it's valuables and his parents were brutally murdered by an assassin on Kirei Nagano's payroll. After the tragic end of his family, Ryuji had found himself homeless and wonders around the streets with only the scrolls containing the hidden skills of both of his parents and his father's samurai katanak in hand. He had met a strange man with long blue hair only a week after that traumatic day while practicing his skills. He claimed he was hunting for a bounty who was responsible for mugging 10 people at a public festival by the time of their encounter, but he introduced himself as Sapphire and offered him an opportunity to be a bounty hunter under his tutelage in exchange of leaving Earth. Ryuji contemplated for a minute and decided that he was not ready to face Kirei and accepted Sapphire's offer and became a Bounty Hunter. By the time he reached 20, he and Sapphire had formed a rather friendly rivalry with each other before they began to hear about rumors about a medallion that can grant the wish of anyone who possesses it. Upon hearing that Kirei also desires the medallion for himself, Ryuji decides to pursue Kirei not only to keep him from retrieving the Shiunpan'nin for himself, but to avenge his families deaths.
